Double Coupon Day - even at logandlily.etsy.com!

In honor of our local grocery store's "double coupon day" (the day when all coupons up to $1 in value double) - we're offering an extra sweet deal at our etsy shop, logandlily.etsy.com!

First, let me introduce you to double coupon day. There are lots of websites that you can google that will give you "coupon matchups" for your grocery store every week (for instance, we like http://www.pocketyourdollars.com/), this takes a lot of guess work - and leg work - out of searching down your sale ads AND finding coupons to go with what is on sale. Yes - a lot of the method revolves around shopping the "sales" for the week - but at our store you have to spend $25 in your transaction in order to double your first 5 coupons (so regular priced items are good to have, too).

Second, don't be afraid to ask for a rain check or get to know the people at the service desk :) Often times your coupon will still be good next week but they are out of a popular "on sale" item. You can get a rain check and come back next week (or even two weeks, a lot of times) and get the item for the sale price and still use your coupon.

Third, don't think coupons are just for grocery stores or that they are too much work! There are lots of other websites that find deals for Target, Walgreens, WalMart, etc - and many, many coupons are PRINTABLE, so no clipping or finding a Sunday paper required (this is very helpful, but not completely necessary). Some that we like to visit are http://www.hip2save.com/, minnesotacouponadventure.blogspot.com, and organicdealsandsteals.blogspot.com.

NOW - on to our **Special** logandlily.etsy.com "double coupon day" deal!

Buy ANY item from our etsy shop on WEDNESDAY (starting TODAY, OCTOBER 8, 2010 THROUGH DECEMBER 1, 2010)  and receive 1/2 price shipping (US only - international will receive equivalent discount). In order to p articipate in this "double coupon day" deal, you must A) FOLLOW THIS BLOG, B) CONVO ME PRIOR TO CHECKOUT so that I can confirm your discount and total and C) USE CODE "double coupon day". Its that easy!

Check back frequently for other specials that may sweeten this "double coupon day" deal!

many happy returns,

Maple Fall Festival and great eats!

This weekend we had a half day girls day at the annual Maple Fall Festival in Marshfield, WI and it was fantastic! The day started off chilly and damp (my kind of day!) and ended up sunny and cool (also not too shabby). In the AM we took O with us (who liked to see all the people and helped us eat a caramel apple - sliced, not whole) and in the afternoon we went back to browse vendors and grab more treats :)

My best find was a nice little thumb ring to replace the one I "outgrew" while pregnant w/ O (almost 2 years ago!) but found lots of inspiration, ideas and just enjoyed being able to be outdoors on such a beautiful fall day with my Mom and her darling sister who has been visiting for a few weeks (time goes so fast...). Other highlights include "wavy ribbon fries" - a potato cut circular (think apple 'peeler-corer-slicer' style) only VERY thin (like thin potato chips), deep fried, with cheese, ranch and bacon on top - sinful! We also had "custom" mouse ears made special for us by the elephat ear stand - so that they'd be easier to share. It was very nice and a perfect way to end our trip to the festival!

I look forward to many more fall days as beautiful and memorable as this was!

Pedestal bowl and original photography day!

Thats what I'm calling today, because we officially have 5 items in our etsy shop (logandlily.etsy.com)! Ok, so, probably not as exciting for EVERYONE as, say, Christmas Day or your birthday, but for me, still very exciting!

In other exciting news - we will soon be offering "blog specials" from our etsy shop, too, so check back frequently for upcoming events.

Today was a lovely, cloudy fall day here for us, and we rounded it out with a new porkchop recipe. Now that cooler weather has caught up with us (finally!), I'm looking forward to more cozy comfort food and posting my family's favorites here. What is your favorite fall recipe? Comment and tell us - I love trying new things!

many happy returns,

You've gotta start somewhere!

while in search of the "perfect" maiden blog entry, i have efficiently not posted anything. i guess i don't really feel bad, its only been a week and given that dan and i are still crafting items in hopes of opening our etsy shop (logandlily.etsy.com) within the next few weeks, i suppose its okay that we haven't actually begun blogging yet.

on that note, we're very excited by the endless possibilities and crafty ideas we have for some of the exclusive, handmade items we hope to offer very soon! rest assured, there will be much to do here when we are closer to the big day :)

until then, let me start with our VERY FIRST "Coffee Shop Sandwich" post! i know, right - who doesn't love coffee shop sandwich creations at your nearest grind? some of the combos are definitely things i wouldn't come up with on my own, but they end up being the very thing that makes my day (or week - in matters of food, anyway). and honestly, i'm shocked that a quick web search for coffee shop sandwich 'recipes' yielded NO results - nothing, nada, empty handed! while i generally wait for someone else to decide to take on a task, such as blogging coffee shop sandwiches, i figured this just might be something i can do...

without further ado:

THE FARMERS MARKET

sandwich of the day on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at The Daily Grind, Marshfield, WI

smoked sliced turkey breast

pepper jack cheese
marinated mushrooms, onions and zucchini
fresh tomato
brown mustard

served on a warm bagel

simple and delicious! this sandwich was amazing - just posting it makes me want one right now :)

enjoy, and check back for more shop updates, tasty sandwiches and who knows what else we may decide to post!
many happy returns,
~kate
